Meet the Maker:

“Hello! I’m Angela Chvarak Jung, founder of Angela Chvarak Studio. I design and make artful, vibrantly colored ceramic objects in my cozy, backyard home studio in Los Angeles, CA. I’m a born and bred Southern lady with Korean roots, and I’m from Charleston, SC. I earned my BFA in studio art, concentrating in painting and ceramics. I also studied Korean ceramics while living in Seoul, South Korea. My continued studies in the arts led me to earn my MPA in arts management, and upon graduation I found myself moving across the country to run a commercial art gallery in LA.

My aesthetic choices are influenced by my roots and heritage as I grew up in a female-centric, Korean household with my mom and dad, sister, grandmother, and aunts. Having a strong women’s circle has been incredibly impactful throughout my life, and I also find inspiration through my love for the outdoors, travel, yoga, music, connecting with spirit, memory, synchronicities, and astrology.

When I’m not creating in the studio, you can find me making the rounds at West Coast galleries through my work with Artsy. I also love running, hiking, backpacking, camping and hot spring hopping with my husband Nik, practicing yoga, reading spiritually-minded books, checking out astrological forecasts, watching documentaries, and snuggling with our cat, Baby Garvan.”
